What Does a Wind Energy Technician Do?

Wind energy technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of wind turbines. The work includes both routine checks and emergency repairs at heights.

Key Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance of wind turbines
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults
• Replacing components (bearings, generators, blades)
• Monitoring via SCADA systems
• Documentation and reporting

Required Education

• Secondary technical or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/mechanics
• GWO (Global Wind Organisation) safety certificate
• Willingness to work at heights

1. Junior Technician - field assistant (0-1 yr.)
2. Wind Turbine Technician - independent work (1-3 yr.)
3. Senior Technician / Team Lead - team leadership (3-6 yr.)
