Green Skills Gap

The green skills gap refers to the shortage of workers with the knowledge, technical abilities, and competencies needed to support the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. It encompasses both the lack of specialists in green sectors (renewable energy technicians, sustainability analysts) and the need to upskill existing workers across all industries. The European Commission and ILO have identified the green skills gap as a critical barrier to achieving climate targets.
