Carbon Accounting Platform Engineer
About the Position
Normative is the worldβs first carbon accounting engine, founded in 2014 to help humanity achieve net-zero emissions. Our platform enables companies to measure, reduce, and report their carbon footprint in line with the GHG Protocol and CSRD. We recently launched Carbon Inventory Managed Services to help companies build complete carbon inventories.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the core carbon accounting engine that processes emissions data across Scope 1, 2, and 3
- Design APIs and data pipelines for ingesting financial, procurement, and activity data from enterprise clients
- Implement emission factor databases and calculation methodologies aligned with GHG Protocol standards
- Collaborate with climate scientists to translate accounting rules into reliable software
What Youβll Work On
- Scaling the platform to serve enterprise clients with complex supply chains
- Building integrations with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Automating CSRD-compliant reporting workflows
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience in TypeScript/Node.js or Python - Experience building data-intensive applications and REST/GraphQL APIs - Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and data pipeline tools - Interest in sustainability and carbon accounting (domain knowledge is a plus, not required) - Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment
