Climate Risk Data Analyst
About the Position
MSCI is a leading provider of critical decision support tools and services for the global investment community, including ESG ratings, climate risk analytics, and portfolio management solutions. MSCIβs climate data and analytics help investors understand, measure, and manage climate-related risks and opportunities across their portfolios.
As a Climate Risk Data Analyst, you will join MSCIβs ESG & Climate Research team to support the development and maintenance of climate risk datasets, models, and analytics products used by hundreds of institutional investors worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and process climate-related data from corporate disclosures, regulatory filings, and third-party sources
- Support the development of physical and transition climate risk models
- Conduct quality assurance on climate risk datasets and resolve data anomalies
- Contribute to research on climate scenario analysis and sector-specific decarbonization pathways
- Prepare analytical reports and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
What Youβll Work On
- Building datasets that power MSCIβs climate risk analytics used by the worldβs largest asset managers
- Analyzing corporate climate transition plans and emissions trajectories
- Supporting the enhancement of MSCIβs physical climate risk models covering floods, wildfires, and extreme heat
- Contributing to MSCIβs research publications on climate risk trends in financial markets
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Finance, Data Science, or related field
- Understanding of climate risk frameworks (TCFD, NGFS scenarios)
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in Python or R
- Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools
- Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills
