Albedo

Albedo is the measure of how much sunlight a surface reflects back into space, expressed as a value between 0 and 1. Surfaces with high albedo, such as ice and snow, reflect more solar radiation and help cool the planet. As ice melts due to global warming, darker surfaces absorb more heat, creating a feedback loop that accelerates climate change.
