Carbon Budget

A carbon budget is the maximum cumulative amount of carbon dioxide that can be emitted globally while still limiting warming to a specific temperature target, such as 1.5 or 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels. The IPCC regularly updates carbon budget estimates based on the latest climate science.
