Direct Air Capture Operations Technician
About the Position
Climeworks is a Swiss company that builds and operates direct air capture (DAC) plants that remove CO2 directly from the atmosphere. The captured CO2 is permanently stored underground or used in sustainable products. Climeworks operates the worldβs largest DAC facility and is scaling rapidly.
As a DAC Operations Technician, you will operate and maintain Climeworksβ pilot and commercial direct air capture units. This is an entry-level technical role ideal for hands-on engineers who want to work at the frontier of carbon removal technology.
Responsibilities
- Operate DAC plant systems including fans, heat exchangers, and sorbent contactors
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and calibration of instruments
- Monitor plant performance data and flag anomalies for engineering review
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Document operational procedures and contribute to process improvements
What Youβll Work On
- Supporting the commissioning and ramp-up of new DAC collector modules
- Collecting operational data to validate process models and improve efficiency
- Testing new sorbent materials and configurations in pilot-scale units
- Contributing to the development of standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering
- Hands-on experience with industrial equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to read P&IDs and technical documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in shifts including some weekends
