Embedded Linux / Yocto Engineer
About the Position
Meteocontrol is a pioneer in independent solar energy monitoring with over 30 years of experience. We develop cutting-edge monitoring and control systems that help solar plant operators maximize yield and efficiency. As an Embedded Linux/Yocto Engineer, you will build the firmware and embedded software that powers our solar monitoring hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux firmware using the Yocto Project framework
- Implement and optimize BSP (Board Support Packages) for Meteocontrol hardware platforms
- Develop and maintain device drivers, bootloaders, and system-level software
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers to integrate embedded and cloud systems
- Perform system testing, debugging, and performance optimization on embedded platforms

This is a remote role based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with a collaborative international team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience developing embedded Linux systems using the Yocto Project - Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development - Experience with device driver development, bootloaders (U-Boot), and BSP customization - Familiarity with communication protocols relevant to solar monitoring (Modbus, SunSpec, or similar) - Strong debugging skills and experience with hardware bring-up
