About the Position

The City of Decatur, Georgia is a nationally recognized leader in sustainability and livable city planning. As Energy and Sustainability Manager, you will lead the city’s energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate resilience initiatives - implementing Decatur’s ambitious sustainability commitments and reducing the municipal carbon footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Energy Savings Performance Contracts and oversee implementation of energy efficiency upgrades across city facilities
  • Develop and advance renewable energy projects, including solar installations on city property
  • Analyze utility data across all municipal accounts to track progress and identify savings opportunities
  • Coordinate capital projects to ensure sustainability criteria are incorporated from inception
  • Engage community stakeholders and lead public education initiatives on city sustainability programs

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in energy management, sustainability program management, or municipal sustainability - Familiarity with Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) and energy efficiency project development - Strong analytical skills for utility data analysis and energy benchmarking - Experience engaging community stakeholders and coordinating across departments - Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or LEED credential preferred
