Grid-Scale Battery Storage Engineer
About the Position
Fluence is a global market leader in energy storage products and services, with a portfolio of over 20 GW of battery-based energy storage deployed or contracted across 47 markets worldwide. A joint venture formed by Siemens and AES, Fluence designs, manufactures, and optimizes grid-scale battery storage systems that enable the integration of renewable energy and enhance grid reliability.
As a Grid-Scale Battery Storage Engineer, you will support the technical design and engineering of large-scale battery energy storage systems for utility and commercial customers. You will work across the full project lifecycle from system design through commissioning and performance optimization.
Responsibilities
- Develop system designs and specifications for grid-scale battery storage projects
- Perform power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, and harmonic analysis
- Support interconnection applications and coordinate with utilities on technical requirements
- Review and approve electrical designs from EPC contractors
- Support factory acceptance testing, site commissioning, and performance testing
What Youβll Work On
- Engineering battery storage systems ranging from 50 MW to 500+ MW for utility customers
- Integrating battery storage with solar and wind farms for hybrid renewable energy projects
- Developing technical solutions for grid services including frequency regulation and capacity
- Contributing to Fluenceβs next-generation battery storage platform development
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in battery energy storage system design, integration, or commissioning
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology, battery management systems, and power conversion
- Experience with power systems analysis tools (PSCAD, ETAP, or PSS/E)
- Understanding of grid interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, UL 9540)
