About the Position
Demeter International is the network of biodynamic agriculture certification bodies, representing the highest standard in organic farming. Demeter-certified farms follow holistic land management practices that go beyond organic requirements, treating the farm as a living organism and prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare.
As Organic Farm Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a Demeter-certified demonstration farm near Darmstadt. You will manage crop planning, livestock care, and farm team coordination while maintaining the highest biodynamic standards and hosting educational visits.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage crop rotations, planting schedules, and harvest operations
- Oversee livestock management including feeding, breeding, and welfare monitoring
- Ensure compliance with Demeter biodynamic certification requirements
- Manage farm workers and coordinate seasonal labor
- Host farm tours and educational workshops for schools and visiting farmers
What You’ll Work On
- Implementing regenerative soil management practices to increase carbon sequestration
- Trialing heritage crop varieties for climate resilience and nutritional value
- Developing a direct-to-consumer sales channel for farm products
- Creating educational materials on biodynamic farming for international audiences
Requirements
- Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in organic or biodynamic farming
- Knowledge of biodynamic certification standards and practices
- Experience managing farm teams and seasonal workers
- Valid driving license and willingness to work outdoors year-round
