Senior Production Engineer, Storage
Crusoe
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack - from electrons to tokens - to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that - with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved - people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About This Role:
At Crusoe, the Production Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our AI-optimized cloud platform. As a Storage-focused Production Engineer, you will help operate and evolve the storage infrastructure that powers Crusoeβs compute-intensive AI and HPC workloads. This role focuses on maintaining highly available, high-performance distributed storage systems that support large-scale GPU clusters and latency-sensitive applications. Your work will directly contribute to the stability and efficiency of Crusoeβs vertically integrated, sustainable cloud platform.
What You'll Be Working On:
In this role, you will design and build automation that improves the reliability and operability of Crusoeβs distributed storage infrastructure, including block, file, and object storage systems. You will lead reliability initiatives across replication, encryption, backup and recovery, and failover capabilities to ensure resilient data services at scale.
Working closely with storage and infrastructure engineers, you will help deploy and operate high-performance NVMe and SSD-backed storage volumes that support large-scale AI compute clusters. You will also support user-facing storage services by improving availability, performance tuning, and adherence to service level objectives.
Youβll investigate and resolve storage-related incidents using telemetry, logs, and performance analysis, while collaborating with hardware and kernel teams to diagnose low-level I/O issues and optimize file systems, cache strategies, and I/O paths. Additionally, you will contribute to the design and evolution of fault-tolerant, scalable storage platforms built specifically for AI-first cloud environments.
What Youβll Bring to the Team:
5+ years of professional experience in Production Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Storage Engineering
Hands-on experience with distributed storage systems such as Ceph, GlusterFS, or OpenEBS
Strong understanding of object, block, and file storage architectures
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or C
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and deployment tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet
Deep knowledge of Linux internals, particularly I/O subsystems, memory management, and storage scheduling
Familiarity with storage protocols such as NFS, SMB, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF
Experience supporting containerized workloads and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker
Strong incident response, troubleshooting, and documentation practices
Experience building or operating large-scale managed storage services across AWS, GCP, or Azure
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to pass a background check
Alignment with Crusoeβs company values
Bonus Points:
Contributions to open-source storage projects or the Linux storage ecosystem
Experience operating hybrid storage environments across on-prem and cloud infrastructure
Familiarity with high-throughput storage networking technologies such as RoCE, RDMA, or InfiniBand
Benefits:
Industry-competitive compensation
Restricted Stock Units in a fast-growing, well-funded technology company
