As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will operate and monitor treatment processes at one of Thames Waterβs major wastewater treatment works. This entry-level role offers structured training and a clear career development pathway in the water industry.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes including screening, settlement, and biological treatment
- Collect samples and conduct basic water quality testing
- Perform routine maintenance on pumps, valves, and aeration equipment
- Respond to process alarms and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate operational records and comply with Environment Agency permit conditions
What Youβll Work On
- Learning advanced treatment technologies including nutrient removal and UV disinfection
- Supporting the commissioning of new phosphorus removal systems
- Contributing to energy efficiency improvements at the treatment works
- Participating in Thames Waterβs environmental monitoring programs
Requirements
- BTEC or equivalent in Environmental Science, Water Treatment, or Engineering
- Basic understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
- Willingness to work shifts including nights and weekends
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid UK driving license
