Energy Communities

Energy communities are groups of citizens, local authorities, or small businesses that collectively own, manage, and benefit from renewable energy projects. Recognised under the EU Clean Energy Package through the Renewable Energy Directive and Electricity Market Directive, energy communities can generate, store, sell, and share renewable electricity. They democratise the energy transition by enabling local participation and ensuring that economic benefits of renewables stay within communities.
