Circular Economy Strategy Consultant
About the Position
The European Environment Agency (EEA) provides independent information on the environment to EU policymakers and the public. We are hiring a Circular Economy Strategy Consultant to support our work on the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and sustainable consumption and production policies.
Responsibilities
- Analyze material flow data and circular economy indicators across EU member states
- Contribute to EEA reports on waste prevention, eco-design, and extended producer responsibility
- Support the development of circular economy monitoring frameworks for the European Commission
- Coordinate with national environment agencies to collect and validate data on waste and resource use
What Youβll Work On
- EU-wide circular economy performance assessment and benchmarking
- Policy analysis for the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)
- Sustainable finance taxonomy alignment for circular economy activities
Requirements
- Master's degree in environmental science, industrial ecology, or economics - 6+ years of experience in circular economy, waste management, or environmental policy - Experience with material flow analysis (MFA) and life cycle assessment (LCA) - Knowledge of EU waste legislation (Waste Framework Directive, ESPR, PPWR) - Excellent written and spoken English; additional EU languages are an asset
