Climate Policy Advisor
About the Position
WWF is one of the worldβs largest and most respected conservation organizations, working in over 100 countries to protect nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. The European Policy Office in Brussels advocates for ambitious EU climate and energy policies.
As Climate Policy Advisor, you will lead WWFβs advocacy on key EU climate dossiers, engaging with EU institutions, member state governments, and coalition partners to advance ambitious emissions reduction targets and climate finance commitments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies on EU climate policy priorities
- Represent WWF at EU institutional meetings, conferences, and stakeholder consultations
- Draft policy briefs, position papers, and public communications on climate issues
- Build and maintain coalitions with NGOs, think tanks, and progressive businesses
- Monitor and analyze developments in EU climate legislation and international negotiations
What Youβll Work On
- Shaping WWFβs position on the EU 2040 Climate Target Framework
- Coordinating advocacy ahead of key UNFCCC COPs
- Engaging with European Parliament committees on climate-related legislation
- Producing analysis on climate finance flows and investment gaps
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Climate Science, Environmental Policy, or Public Policy
- 6+ years of experience in climate policy advocacy or research
- Deep understanding of EU climate legislation and UNFCCC processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proven track record of influencing policy outcomes
