Environmental Advisor
About the Position
LondonEnergy operates one of London’s major energy-from-waste facilities, converting municipal waste into electricity that powers approximately 80,000 homes while achieving a 70% recycling rate. As Environmental Advisor, you will provide expert environmental guidance to ensure the facility operates in full compliance with its environmental permits and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance with environmental permits, including emissions, noise, odor, and effluent standards
- Prepare and submit environmental monitoring reports to the Environment Agency and other regulators
- Conduct internal environmental audits and support external regulatory inspections
- Provide environmental advice to operational teams and develop staff environmental awareness
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the facility’s environmental performance
What You’ll Work On
LondonEnergy’s energy-from-waste operations divert significant quantities of material from landfill while generating clean power for London’s homes. Your environmental advisory role ensures this is done to the highest standards of regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship - protecting local communities and the environment while enabling a circular approach to London’s waste.
This is an on-site role at the facility, providing direct day-to-day environmental support to operations.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or advisory roles in the energy or waste sector - Strong knowledge of UK environmental permitting regulations (Environmental Permitting Regulations, Environment Act) - Experience with emissions monitoring and reporting for industrial facilities - IEMA or CIWM membership or equivalent professional qualification - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
