About the Position
Veolia is a global leader in optimized resource management, providing water, waste, and energy management solutions. In Bulgaria, Veolia manages waste collection, treatment, and recycling services for major municipalities, helping the country meet EU waste reduction targets.
As Waste Reduction Manager, you will lead initiatives to reduce waste-to-landfill volumes and increase recycling rates across Veolia’s operations in Bulgaria. You will work with municipal clients, industrial partners, and internal teams to design and implement circular economy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement waste reduction strategies for municipal and industrial clients
- Conduct waste composition audits and identify diversion opportunities
- Design and manage extended producer responsibility schemes
- Monitor waste stream data and report on recycling and recovery rates
- Train operations teams on waste sorting, handling, and processing best practices
What You’ll Work On
- Rolling out a new organic waste collection and composting program
- Establishing partnerships with recyclers for hard-to-recycle materials
- Implementing digital waste tracking systems across collection routes
- Supporting Bulgaria’s transition to EU-mandated separate waste collection
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in waste management operations
- Knowledge of EU Waste Framework Directive and circular economy principles
- Experience with waste auditing and zero-waste program design
- Working knowledge of English and Bulgarian
