About the Position

EDF Group is one of the world’s largest electricity producers and a major player in the energy transition, operating nuclear, renewable, and thermal generation assets across Europe. The company’s legal department ensures compliance with an increasingly complex web of environmental regulations.

As Environmental Compliance Lawyer, you will advise EDF’s generation and renewable energy divisions on environmental regulatory compliance, permitting, and litigation matters. You will play a key role in navigating the evolving European environmental regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Advise business units on compliance with environmental permits and regulations
  • Review and negotiate environmental clauses in commercial and procurement contracts
  • Manage environmental litigation and coordinate with external counsel
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on operations
  • Support due diligence for acquisition and development projects

What You’ll Work On

  • Ensuring compliance with the EU Industrial Emissions Directive across EDF’s portfolio
  • Advising on environmental permitting for new renewable energy projects
  • Developing internal training programs on environmental compliance
  • Supporting the company’s biodiversity net-gain commitments

Requirements

  • Law degree with specialization in Environmental or Energy Law
  • Admitted to practice in France or EU-equivalent qualification
  • 6+ years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
  • Knowledge of EU environmental directives and French environmental code
  • Fluent in French and English
