About the Position
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organization supporting countries in their transition to sustainable energy. Based in Abu Dhabi with a liaison office in Bonn, IRENA provides authoritative analysis, policy advice, and capacity building to its 170 member states.
As a Renewable Energy Policy Analyst, you will contribute to IRENA’s flagship publications and advisory services, analyzing renewable energy policies and their effectiveness across different country contexts. You will be based at the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre in Bonn.
Responsibilities
- Conduct policy analysis on renewable energy deployment barriers and enabling frameworks
- Contribute to IRENA’s annual Renewable Energy Statistics and World Energy Transitions Outlook
- Develop policy recommendations and technical briefs for member state governments
- Support capacity-building workshops and policy dialogues in developing countries
- Monitor global renewable energy market trends and policy developments
What You’ll Work On
- Analyzing the effectiveness of auction mechanisms for renewable energy procurement
- Assessing grid integration policies for variable renewable energy sources
- Developing country-level energy transition scenarios and roadmaps
- Supporting IRENA’s engagement with G7 and G20 energy working groups
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Energy Policy, Economics, or Public Policy
- 3-5 years of experience in energy policy analysis or research
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, markets, and policy frameworks
- Experience with quantitative modeling and statistical analysis
- Fluent in English; French, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset
