Wetland Specialist
About the Position
Midwest Natural Resources is seeking an experienced Wetland Specialist to join our environmental consulting team. This is a field-intensive role focused on wetland delineation, permitting, and regulatory compliance work throughout the Upper Midwest.
Responsibilities
- Conduct wetland delineations per the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable regional supplements
- Perform wetland community mapping and condition assessments
- Prepare federal and state wetland permit applications and jurisdictional determinations
- Assist clients with Section 404/401 permitting processes and mitigation planning
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies including USACE, MPCA, and state DNR offices
What You’ll Work On
You will be on the ground - literally - in some of the Upper Midwest’s most ecologically significant wetland systems. From prairie potholes to forested floodplains, you will apply your technical expertise to assess, document, and help protect these critical resources. Extensive field travel throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and neighboring states is expected.

Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience conducting wetland delineations per the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual - Familiarity with Upper Midwest wetland plant communities, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology indicators - Experience with Section 404 permitting and regulatory agency coordination - Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively for field work - Strong technical writing skills for report preparation
