ESG
Environmental, Social, and Governance - a framework used to evaluate a company's sustainability and ethical impact.
Reporting & ComplianceESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is a set of criteria used by investors, regulators, and stakeholders to assess how well a company manages risks and opportunities related to sustainability.
The Three Pillars
- Environmental: Climate change, carbon emissions, resource depletion, waste management, pollution, and deforestation.
- Social: Labor practices, diversity and inclusion, human rights, community impact, and employee health & safety.
- Governance: Board composition, executive compensation, transparency, anti-corruption, and shareholder rights.
Why ESG Matters for Green Careers
ESG reporting has become mandatory in many jurisdictions (e.g., the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive - CSRD). This has created strong demand for professionals who can collect, analyze, and report ESG data. Roles include ESG analysts, sustainability consultants, and compliance officers.
Key Frameworks
- GRI (Global Reporting Initiative)
- TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)
- SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board)
