Nature-Based Solutions Programme Officer
About the Position
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the global authority on the status of the natural world and measures needed to safeguard it. Our Global Programme on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) works to mainstream nature as a solution to climate change, biodiversity loss, and societal challenges. Join us to coordinate our portfolio of NbS projects across Europe and West Africa.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 5-8 NbS projects focused on ecosystem restoration, coastal resilience, and urban greening
- Coordinate with IUCN regional offices, government partners, and donor organizations (EU, GCF, GEF)
- Develop project proposals and secure funding for new NbS initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate project impact using the IUCN Global Standard for NbS
What You’ll Work On
- EU-funded ecosystem restoration projects under the EU Nature Restoration Law
- Mangrove and wetland restoration for coastal flood protection in West Africa
- Urban NbS implementation in European cities (green infrastructure, urban forests)
Requirements
- Master's degree in ecology, environmental science, geography, or related field - 4+ years of experience in conservation project management, nature-based solutions, or ecosystem restoration - Experience with international donor-funded projects (EU Horizon, GCF, GEF) - Strong proposal writing and fundraising track record - Fluent English; French is highly desirable for West African programmes
