Electrical Systems Engineer
About the Position
Vestasβs UK engineering hub in Warrington is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, commissioning, and optimisation of electrical infrastructure for onshore and offshore wind projects across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Design and review electrical systems for wind farm balance-of-plant including substations, cable routes, and grid connections
- Support commissioning activities and resolve electrical issues during project execution
- Perform power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, and harmonic analysis
- Collaborate with grid operators and distribution network operators on connection applications
- Review and approve contractor electrical designs and installation methods
What Youβll Work On
You will work on some of the UKβs largest onshore and offshore wind developments, ensuring electrical systems meet performance, safety, and grid compliance requirements. The Warrington office offers a collaborative engineering environment with access to Vestasβs global technical expertise.
Requirements
- BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems - 3+ years experience in electrical design or commissioning for wind or power generation - Knowledge of HV/MV switchgear, transformers, and grid connection standards - Familiarity with UK Grid Code and Distribution Network Operator requirements - Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar)
